9McGard wheel locks are state of the art meeting the needs of the automotive industry and are installed as antitheft wheel locks with a special, user-friendly key to replace original fastenings with the original tightening torque. A computer system generates a virtually endless number of antitheft wheel lock codes and keys.
European vehicle manufacturers mainly use bolts to fasten wheels, whereas US and Asian OEMs rely predominantly on wheel nuts. No matter whether bolts or nuts – all of McGard's antitheft locks are manufactured to automotive industry specifications and even exceed these in part. Over thirty vehicle manufacturers throughout the world put their trust in McGard products and services.
Manufactured in Europe and the United States McGard's innovative products are subjected to constant development and improvement. The security and quality standards underlying McGard antitheft wheel locks find testimony in a great many awards and certificates.
McGard bolts are manufactured in two parts. The advantage is that the head exhibits a considerably greater hardness than possible with single-part manufacture. This extreme hardness makes it impossible to open antitheft wheel locks with standard tools. The head’s nickel/chrome coating assures corrosion resistance and therefore an aesthetic visual appeal over many years.
Audi original alloy wheels use a radius seated bolt, this bolt is curved at the mounting face.
Nearly all aftermarket alloy wheels use a 60 degree tapered bolt.
